It's always so fascinating to watch Matrix. Whatever how many times you watch it, coz, the more times you watch it, the more you can find out from it, that's why, I'd like to devote a place for this film here.
Appreciate what Wachowski Brothers gave us, and also the cast and crew, it's an amazing film that I've ever met. Thank you all.

It's a kind of confusion I'd got when I first saw this film, a lot of question marks had been aroused in my head. It made me remember what I've been searching for in the past few years, the philosophy of life and world. It is such a kind of inspiration, fresh and intriguing. After being a child for a year, I decided to pick up the serious matter again in my life. Every single line, every single word in this movie has a purpose to tell you something, has its enormous meaning the editors would like to deliver to their audience. A lot of effort and delicacy you would find there, they've done that very cleverly. Besides thinking and of the mind, all of the arts works inside the movie was grown from the care and thoughtfulness of the movie's artists. Symbolism is one of it used in order to tell you something quietly, what speaks without words. All you can find here, is effort and dedication. And, of course, it's a lesson to all.
Of..Episode I, General..//
At the beginning of the story, the main girl, Trinity showed her special ability to us, in the 'real' world we know up to this point in the movie. She and Morpheus were finding someone 'special' in this world. While Neo, a hacker who knows a lot about programming, received the msg from his computer: 'wake up..Neo.....follow the white rabbit..'. It is not a coincidence for them to get him. He knew that he was the one to be found, he has the consciousness to be found, that's why, he followed the white rabbit and let Trinity get him.
Later in the story, editor tells us that, the 'Real' world, is created by the Matrix, a computer program creating all the simulations in the world that everyone believes it is real. Neo, himself was finding an answer, by finding a man, who was Morpheus. Before Neo and Morpheus met, Morpheus told Neo, that the Matrix, is finding him; if he wanted, he could let it find him too. This makes it obviously a choice set for Neo, which is the path he could choose whether he would like to continue or not, which he had started.
Agent Smith, which is a big role in the movie, as important as Neo, appeared as a cool guy with black glasses and an iced face. He caught Neo from his office. Smith is someone made by the Matrix, and worked for the Matrix to eliminate any threat to it. He was set to find Neo and tried to change him, from the one who seemed to know 'something', back to an innocent human. However, Neo hadn't changed by him.
He sent a bug to Neo, which is a chasing device seems. This device is an example of symbolism used by the editors. The bug was appear as a bug inside the Matrix, but actually, it was just an electronic device after Trinity dumped it out of the car. This is further telling audience about the simulated world early in the movie.
It was intriguing to hear that Smith said to Neo: ''you seem to have two lives. One of these lives has future, the others doesn't..'' This seems to tell us that Smith was not a normal agent worked for the Matrix, but someone knew more than that.
Morpheus and Trinity were someone special who had waken up from the dream they used to make. This made a strong contrast to Neo, which knew something, but doubted in himself. Trinity finally brought Neo to Morpheus. ''I know you cannot explain what you know, but you want to know what it is...'' Morpheus said to Neo. This was the power brought Neo to Morpheus, Morpheus believed deeply that Neo was the one, and there was always proofs. Morpheus told Neo that he was blind from the truth. At that time, he was still a slave without real perceptions, but just illusions he was forced to accept in the Matrix, that he was in the jail of 'free mind'. He also told Neo that the truth cannot be told, he must have to feel himself...
The Blue and Red pill was simply a test for Neo, and actually, red pill was just a chasing device for locating a body inside the Matrix after you got it out from it and re-entered it. He asked Neo have ever inside a dream that he can hardly determine whether it was a dream or reality. This is the convincement to add before Neo chose the red pill. It was about choice again.
After that, Morpheus gave Neo his original body outside the Matrix. The metallic body which is just the image in the Matrix, melted. Inside the bath cell, Neo was unplugged and freed. This is the birth of Neo, I used to think that it is horrible enough, but now, I would rather regard that as a luck, acceptance can change your perspective...From now on, Neo was given his new life. By the way, he asked Morpheus where he was. But Morpheus pointed out that ''when? is more important than where?''...I can feel that now too. I can know that now in the physical dimensions we're situated in, Time, is much more important than the Place, I'd always remember, no doubt.
Morpheus told Neo all the things he needed to know. For the first time, the definition of the Matrix was given clearly in the movie. It was a computer program creating all residual self image, some interactive simulations for human beings. And he told Neo what was real and what wasn't'? He told Neo that the residual images were interpreted by their brains as electrical signals, therefore, made them think that the images were real enough, since for the brain, there is no real or virtual. Anything received as signal would be processed and the body would be controlled and instructed to response according to physical laws in the Matrix world. That's why, they would die in the real world if even if they only die in the Matrix.
And he told Neo the history of the Matrix and why today's real world was resulted. A.I. was made by human long ago as robots, which human arrogantly believed that they could only survive with solar power, therefore, human depends on them safely and blindly without any precautions. However, they couldn't believe that robots began to use the biochemical energy generated by Man instead of the solar energy. They began to live on Man, by growing human in fields, only for their energy. They turned human into batteries, grew them and then locked them into cells, used the dead ones to feed the babies, again and again. While the Matrix was the coordinator, responsible for keeping man from realizing that they were used by the robots, keeping them from knowing the truth, in order for them to depend on as a battery.
Morpheus then told Neo that he was the one. He knew that there was a man who was born inside the Matrix, who can modify the Matrix whatever he wanted to. That man was died, but reborn now, and he believed that Neo was the one.
Tank, one of the brothers on the ship, on the other hand, was a real human being, not created by the robots, but by the little groups of ppl still alive and lived in the base, Zion, in the real world.
After waking up, Neo was given his trainings. Morpheus was here, responsible for raising Neo up, guiding him to become the one. Each thing he told Neo, was actually what the editor would like to tell the audience. He again, told Neo, physical rules, rules only of the Matrix, could be modified or even, broken. His line: ''your weakness, is not at your technique'' was so cool. He by that told Neo it was not that his technique was imperfect, but only a simple thing, that he hasn't freed his mind. He was still abided by the physical laws, which he deeply believed to be 'exist' in the Matrix world. It was not a matter of whether it's fast enough, nor he was breathing in air. If Neo wanted to become 'superpowered', actually no super..just normal enough..., he needed to believe that those physical laws was nothing and all seems to be a must in the Matrix were nothing.
Agent Smith's identity was later further clarified. He was a computer man who had their own mind, guarding the doors and had all the keys inside the Matrix world. One thing for their weakness was they were still under the limitations set by the computer. They were relatively free in the simulated world, but absolutely no freer than human, as human were not controlled by the computer if they'd freed their minds.
Cypher was the symbol of all innocent human inside the movie. He believed that 'being innocent is the key to happiness'..which he chose to hide from the truth, not confronting and accepting the truth, he chose to lie to himself in order to get the 'happiness'. And he was the symbol of devil in the movie. He had the devil thoughts of a normal human, to betray and to fulfill his dirty 'dreams'. The editor showed us how strong the power the devil thoughts have. The devil thoughts could drive a man to kill and to ignore anything in order to achieve their purpose, very dangerous for a man to have these devil thoughts, very sad and unfortunate, that they've shaken up from their kind beliefs.
While the little boy on the ship was used to told us from another perspective by the editors (forgot his name..). He was the one who wrote the program of the woman in red dress. He said, ''suppressing natural appetence was denying the human instincts.'', not something should be done by an honest man.
There two guys were contradictive inside the movie who made the audience to think about the question. Actually, in my view, the editors may like to bring out that we need to accept our desires, but not be obsessive to them.
Then, was the fascinating part of the movie, meeting the Oracle.
Before getting into her apartment, Morpheus told Neo he had to know that try not see things in terms of Right or Wrong, Prophecy made by Oracle was just something she believed to happen in the future, and you can choose to believe her or not. Morpheus also told Neo that he could only show him the door, he needed to walk through it himself. He said that because he wanted Neo to believe, not only to be told by him passively, but to believe him actively.
Inside Oracle's apartment, there were full of children understood the truth. One of them bending the spoon talked to Neo. Neo was amazed why he could bend the spoon. That's why he told Neo that:'' Try not to bend the spoon, that is impossible; just try to know the truth yourself. It is not to change the spoon, but it is to change yourself...'' Wow..this is so amazing, you know. The child was so clever, like a miracle. Neo listened to him and did it. This was the journey he supposed to go through--to believe that he is no longer in the Matrix and that he is the one.
Then he met the Oracle. The Oracle told him not to matter about the vase. At the meantime, he broke it. The editor here showed the audience Oracle's ability. The Oracle asked Neo: ''Would you still break it if I haven't told you?'' Well, she was trying to tell Neo something, but Neo couldn't get it. She wanted him to know that, she knew something in the future just because they've set to happen by someone's choices. And that the choices were already made.
She then carefully looked at Neo. After that, she said to him: ''I'm supposed to say, that's interesting, but...'' ''You would ask--but what?'' ''I'm sorri, but...you're gifted, you would know what is the answer I would tell you.'' I was so confused by her words at that time, you know, but then I understand. She would like to tell Neo that he was not yet the one, because he was not ready.
She pointed to the board on the wall--which is latin, 'knowing yourself'. Neo asked her after that: ''I'm not the one?'' she replied, ''Seems you're waiting for something...a new life maybe..'' What she means here was the new life gained by the save from Trinity later on. Neo up till now didn't now himself, that's why he was not yet the one, but he was the one obviously. The important point is that, even he is, but if he didn't know about it, it is nothing. Therefore, the Oracle said these whole things to him. Neo, believed in Morpheus blindly only, but not himself. He actually was still in his doubt.
Then they continue their journey to find the phone to get home. The black cat there was used as a symbol again, something surprised. The computer image was modified by someone and made a trap to them. This was the consequence made by Cypher's devil act. Morpheus was caught by Smith. And Smith had the chance to tell us a lot of things here.
In order to make Morpheus shaken from his belief, he tried to say something he believed in. He told Morpheus that the Matrix today is the new version, in which the old version was originally a perfect world without sufferings created for human. However, he didn't know why, all human were dead in such a perfect system, so he formulated that human were imperfect and needed to be in an imperfect world, with reality, suffer and misery, in order to made them alive...
Human created Robots and when the host of the world changed, the world was different, this was a kind of evolution...well, what he said was absolutely...right...umm. Evolution is the domination of a place by a new species from the previous species. And, he further addressed that, he couldn't actually classify human, as human was actually not like mammals. Mammals live by getting balances with the nature's environment, but humans don't. Human made no equilibrium with the nature, only every time tried to use up all the resources at a place and then spread to another area. He said, only one thing human was similar with--virus. He said human was the cancer of the planet.
Well, I agreed with him here, I need to say so...
And then, his identity was further disclosed to us. He said he hated this place, he wanted to get free from the Matrix, that he actually presented his freed mind to us. He was not a normal agent, but someone as special as Neo.
On the other hand, on the ship, Neo was going to make his choice, told by the Oracle, that he could choose whether Morpheus died or he died, as Tank and Trinity were going to unplugged Morpheus to protect the code of Zion's mainframe computer. He said : ''I need to go inside, because I've a faith that I can get him out.' This was the first time, he tried to believe that he had the ability to save the world.
He and Trinity then got into the Matrix with piles of guns. After fights in the lobby, they got into the lift. Neo here reminded himself : ''There's no spoon.'' He was here to tell himself, to make himself sure that the 'reality' he used to believe actually didn't exist. He was growing, he was trying to believe, we were told by the editor.
Later, they got Morpheus. Trinity was trapped inside the oil-leaking helicopter. Neo was told that, ''knowing your future is not enough, but you need to experience it.'' All along, every one was helping him to believe that he was the one. Trinity was saved by Neo at last.
Inside the underground station, they met Smith again. Smith was at that time already able to transfer his consciousness and his body from a body to another...one point I still do not yet understand...give me some time...Neo here changed. He was beginning to believe, after trying and knowing himself. Until, he firmly told Smith that : ''My name IS NEO.'', he got it done. But this newly born Hero's belief was not strong as Smith. Smith killed him eventually in Rm 303.
Later was the resurrection of Neo. This was the second point I don't understand well. Trinity, wanted to tell Neo something before she got into the phone in the station, but she didn't do so. On the ship, after Neo's death, she said : ''I'm not afraid anymore, Neo cannot be dead, because the Oracle told me that I'd fall in love with the Messiah, because I LOVE you..'' The kiss brought Neo alive. Are the editors telling us the power of love or something else? But with Trinity's belief and love, Neo seemed not doubting anymore. He seemed to fully believe that he would not die and he was the one. His belief was solidified by Trinity's love.
He made an oath to all by the finale of episode I. He said he would set the world into a place without boundaries and limits, but a world with full of possibilities. He reminded us importantly that, possibilities were shed by us, because of the limitations set inside our mind only. We were trapped by the rules set by ourselves. Somehow, there rules can be ignored and dumped. It is only we don't believe that we have the ability to do so. Someday if we can do it, we would be opened to a lot more possibilities, a lot more lively chances.
